Sylvan Lake Figure Skating Club's fundraising requirements consists of working bingos at the Red Deer Bingo Center.
Participation in this fundraising is vital to our organization and helps to keep our registration fees low. Below you will find more information about the requirements for each of the SLFSC programs and dates available .
We appreciate everyone who volunteers their time to keep these bingos going and help in the success of our club!
*New for 2025/2026 seasons*
We are in the process of planning a STAR 1-3 Fun Skate Competition on December 13, 2025.
To make this event a success those participating will require many volunteers. As part of this years requirements families will also need to volunteer for a time slot.

Requirement per program
PreCan & CanSkate:
No bingos are required for the Preschool CanSkate and CanSkate programs
PreStar:
Each family is required to work (2) bingos per skating season (Sept 1-March 31). We require 2x $300 postdated cheques, these cheques will be returned to you once your volunteer requirements have been completed. Skaters will not be permitted on the ice until cheques have been received. Failure to work your required volunteer shifts will result in the fundraising cheque being cashed.
**If your skater is purchasing extra ice for private lessons, you will be required to work one additional bingo**
Jr STARSkate & STARSkate:
Each Jr Star and STARSkate family is required to work (3) bingos per skating season (Sept 1-March 31). We require 3x $300 postdated cheques, these cheques will be returned to you once your volunteer requirements have been completed. Skaters will not be permitted on the ice until cheques have been received. Failure to work your required volunteer shifts will result in the fundraising cheque being cashed.
Postdated cheques of $300 per bingo are required from each family and will be returned once the bingo is completed

What to expect when working a bingo:
Location
*Red Deer Bingo Center (4946 53rd. Ave. Red Deer)
Times:
*Evening bingos start at 4:30 PM
*Afternoon bingos start at 10:30 AM
*Evening bingos usually finish between 9-10 PM and Afternoon bingos usually finish between 3-4PM*
Expectations of the bingo volunteers
- Please be on time as the bingo hall will give you direction to your job/duties of what you will be doing at the bingo and your assigned position.
- You are expected to stay till the bingo is over.
- Wear comfy footwear as you will be doing a lot of walking on concrete selling tickets.
- If you need to cancel, please give a minimum of 72 hours' notice to the bingo Chair. We have to have a certain amount of people there to work, or we can potentially lose our monthly bingos. Not showing up to work your scheduled shift or not giving adequate notice will result in your fundraising cheque being cashed.
- Any extra bingos you work will give you 75 credits towards your bursaries. You are welcome to work extra bingos if there are spots available once we have given first priority to people who need to complete them.
- If you cannot work your bingo, you can have a family member or friend work it as long as they are over 18 years of age.
- Please have your bingos finished by the end of August as we have new registrants coming in for the new year and they are going to be placed first priority for working the bingos for the new year of the skating season. If you are not finished your required bingos on time, we will be required to cash your $300 cheque.
