2025/2026 Season Coaches

The following coaches are under contract with the SLFSC for the 2025/2026 skating season to teach figure skating.

All private lessons are booked directly between coaches and parents and are an additional charge to the registration fees and paid directly to the coaches

Kami Harney - Regional Certified Coach

Preschool CanSkate, CanSkate, PreStar, JrStar, & STARSkate

Kami has been a professional coach for 25 years, primarily in the Northwest Territories but began coaching at the Grande Prairie Skating Club. She is a national coach in training and is a qualified skills assessor up to Star 7. Kami has been fortunate to work with skaters of all ages from Pre-CanSkate to STARSkate up to gold level dance, skills, artistic and Star 6 Freeskate; including a skater selected for the 2022 and 2023 Arctic Winter Games. Kami has experience with jump harnesses, off ice instruction and is a licensed Zumba instructor. She is excited to begin coaching with the Sylvan Lake Figure Skating Club this season. Skating Accomplishments: Gold Skills, Gold Dance, Gold Interpretive, Gold Artistic, Competed Nationally as an adult skater at various competitions since 2012. Leah MacMillan - Regional Trained Coach

CanSkate, PreSTAR, JrSTAR & STARSkate

After skating in the sylvan lake figure skating club her whole life and volunteering as a program assistant for many years, Leah decided to become a regionally trained coach, and is currently working towards full certification. She is also a STAR 1-5 assessor. Leah's is furthering her education by pursuing a Bachelor of Business degree. She is dedicated to providing a supportive environment for skaters of all levels to achieve their goals.

Atlee Graham - Regional Trained Coach

PreSTAR & STARSkate

Atlee has been coaching for 2 years now and is working towards going from a Regional Trained Coach to Regional Certified Coach She has her gold level test in the 4 disciplines of Freeskate, Skating Skills, Dance and Interpretive making her a guad gold skater! Atlee has completed at the junior level. She is currently attending RDP to complete nursing program.

Leona Tompkins - Provincial Certified Coach, National Trained

Preschool CanSkate & STARSkate

Hi! I’m Leona and I am excited to join the coaching team for this season in Sylvan Lake. I’ve been coaching for just over 25 years across Canada, with 6 years off to work in the airline industry. I found my way back to the rink as a coach and assessor once my airline job was finished. My hobbies include reading, traveling and exploring, running, horses and finally starting up my own bed and breakfast. I’m a Provincial Certified Coach with National Training. My credentials include Artistic and Skills Assessor up to Gold Level and Star 1–4 Event Assessor. Over the years, I’ve worked with athletes from PreCanSkate to Sectional Competitive levels. I’ve proudly served as a Team Coach for Alberta Winter Games Zone 7, and twice as Assistant Coach for the Arctic Winter Games (2000 & 2012). I’ve coached Quad Gold skaters, and my personal skating achievements include Gold Dance, Gold Artistic, Senior Silver Skills, and Junior Silver FreeSkate. My coaching philosophy is all about respect, inclusivity, and open communication. I believe every skater deserves to feel supported and valued, and I work hard to create a positive, collaborative environment with skaters, families, fellow coaches, and the executive team. Whether a skater is preparing for competition or just enjoying time on the ice, I want them to feel confident and inspired. I’m looking forward to a fantastic season and can’t wait to see everyone at the rink

*Due to limited STARSkate private lesson slots available, skaters will be limited on overall lesson times and may not receive more than 1 hour of combined lesson time per week.

SLFSC skaters get first priority on lesson availability. If lessons slots remain open and SLFSC skaters do not want to fill extra slots, associate skaters may utilize booking with our contracted coaches
